What is it About the Minnesota Wild?

The 6 game winning streak by the Colorado Avalanche has been broken by the Minnesota Wild. This game was the 6th and final meeting between the two teams for the 2009-2010 season. The Avalanche rallied once to beat these division rivals, when in all honesty you can say that every single team in the Northwest Division are rivals. All you have to do is watch the games. Every Northwest Division team plays the other like everything is on the line.

Curse of the 3rds Smack Avs in the Face… Again

The Colorado Avalanche were out on the ice wearing their third jerseys against the New York Islanders.  But most people weren’t focusing on the fact that the Avs have only won a single game in the nearly all blue thirds, they were focused on John Tavares and Matt Duchene.  The 1st and 3rd draft picks respectively, everyone wondered how the two former roomies (during the draft) would play in their first meeting since the 2009 NHL Draft.

Avs v. Ducks Pregame

The Colorado Avalanche will take on the Anaheim (Mighty-not lately) Ducks tonight at the Pepsi Center in game two of a back-to-back trip. Hot off a decent win against the up and coming Minnesota Wild, the Avalanche look to extend their first place lead over the Calgary Flames to six points before the holiday break.

Avs Skate Past Wild 4-3

I think one of the greatest things about this game was that I had to listen to the first two periods on AM 1510 because my television bit the dust.  I’ve never listened to an entire game on the radio, as I caught the third period at Old Chicago on Colorado Boulevard.  There was plenty of cursing at Cal Clutterbuck and I yelled a bit at John Michael Liles for letting the puck get past him a few times.

Avs. vs. Wild – Round 5

Tonight your Colorado Avalanche take on the flaming hot Minnesota Wild in a bid to gain ground on Calgary in the ongoing battle for the division lead. The Avs have a tumultuous past with the Wild, who are 12-1-2 against the Burgundy Boys in the last 15 games.

Hmm. Hockey, you say?

Not much of a game tonight, I honestly thought.  There were a plethora of texts from people we knew at the game, many of them comparing the Avalanche’s skating ability to that of rejected ballet dancers that took to figure skating.  Ouch.  On top of that, Craig Anderson is still out, but feeling better.

Avs Poor Play Leads to Shootout Loss

What can I say, it was a frustrating game. The Avalanche spent October on the high horse of great penalty killing, but since has fallen so far down. A string of injuries hasn’t helped either, David Jones being the latest to fall to that curse once again. Jones will be out 4-6 months with a torn ACL, so he’s pretty much done for the season.
