The Chicago Blackhawks stormed through the 2009-10 NHL postseason, taking no prisoners and rightly proclaiming Lord Stanley’s Cup as their trophy. Then they went out and had to clean house, losing nearly half of the team that got them the championship. Nobody can blame the ‘Hawks for essentially buying themselves a cup. They did what they needed to have a team that could compete.

Avs Shock All With First Pick
The Colorado Avalanche shocked everyone at the 2010 NHL Draft, selecting a player many consider extremely under the first round radar. Fans and analysts alike have been left wondering just what the Avalanche were thinking in drafting Joey Hishon so high.
Sharks Shoot Themselves in the Foot
This had to have been one of the most insane games at The Can this season. We saw Craig Anderson shut out the San Jose Sharks. We saw the Sharks put the puck on Andy 51 times and Andy blocked them all. That’s one short of his all time career record. The fans in Denver saw three scoreless periods and 51 seconds of overtime before something quite odd happened.
Avs Slip In Some Oil

After a great win in OT last night in Vancouver, the Avalanche headed to Edmonton to see what the Oilers were up to. For those who have never followed the NHL this season and have just happened upon this website by happenstance, the Oilers are last in the league and are pretty much guaranteed to get the 1st draft pick in Los Angeles this summer. However, the Avalanche still have a chance to move up in the standings, so every game still has meaning.
Coyotes Bite Avs 6-2

Twas a warm night in Arizona as the Avalanche took on the Coyotes. With Calgary’s loss last night, it guaranteed the Yotes a playoff spot. The Avs, however, still have some fighting to do. They need to win 5 of the next 9 games to solidify a playoff spot for the 2009-2010 season. Seeing how well they’ve done, it’s possible. But they’re still plagued with injuries, Peter Mueller being the most recent Avalanche player to join the list with a mysterious hip injury.
Avs Top Kings in SO

The Avalanche went up against the LA Kings tonight at the Pepsi Center for the third time this season. John Michael Liles would be a healthy scratch again and Ruslan Salei would still be in the lineup. Even though Salei’s penalty allowed the Kings to convert in OT to win Monday night, coach Joe Sacco has liked the veteran’s play as of lately. If you ask me, he should have been benched for losing his cool in such a need-to-win situation. The Avs were also playing sans Darcy Tucker for his hit on Greene Monday night.
