Avs Nail Thrashers in OT

With the Thrashers losing top scorer Ilya Kovalchuk to the Devils this week, no one thought they’d show up to play… and boy, were we wrong. The first period started out with a garbage goal for the Thrashers, to which the Avs answered back almost immediately with a goal by Clark. Stastny set him up for the perfect shot; a skill he’s perfected to a T. A Thrasher penalty and an Avs power play, which produced nothing but a bunch of…well, nothing. Passing the puck around and not capitalizing on opportunities pretty much sums it up. Game tied 1-1 at the end of the first.

The Colorado Avalanche beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5 – 1 tonight, effectively ending a 3 game losing streak and completing a season series sweep against Columbus. In a game that started off on the wrong foot, the Avs had an enormous showing from their rookies.

Tonight the Colorado Avalanche and the Calgary Flames battled it out for #1 in the Northwest Division. Calgary sat ahead of Vancouver and Colorado in 1st and a win could push the Avs ahead of both teams for the top NW team. Going in, the Avs knew this was going to be a hard, physical game. And it was just that. Remember the movie There Will Be Blood? Yeah, theme of the night.

Avalanche Still #1 in the Northwest Division

How goes it, Avalanche fans? First of all, about the game tonight, we saw a few things in the first period that we didn’t see in the last game against the Vancouver Canucks. We saw defense. The Boys spent a lot of time in front of the net, helping Anderson with his job. We also saw offense, more offense than we saw in the entire game last Saturday.

Hawks Fall to Avs in Shootout

Colorado’s very own Burgundy Boys came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in a shootout. Fresh off of a lost to Phoenix Thursday night, the Blackhawks came out ready to turn things around on the road.
