Dan Winnik, come on down. You’re the newest member of the Colorado Avalanche. That’s right, in a move reminiscent of the old days, the Avs have forfeited a future (4th round, 2011) draft pick to our favorite Phoenix Coyotes in return for 25-year-old left winger Daniel Winnik.

Avs to Change Divisions?
If you have been paying attention at all to the Phoenix Coyotes situation, which I haven’t really – they’ve again been discussing selling and potential relocation versus Gelndale, AZ fronting the money for the NHL to maintain the team in Arizona – you may have heard that there is speculation that the Yotes could find themselves back in Winnipeg.
Avs Jump the Sharks

It was a gorgeous day in Denver today and throughout the day the Avalanche fans were both anticipating and dreading tonight’s game against the San Jose Sharks. Not only are the Sharks one of the high scoring teams in the west, they’re also in 2nd place in the league. After a bad loss against the Calgary Flames on April 2nd, the Avs needed win to gain some ground on the coveted 8th place spot in the Western Conference Standings.
Avs Drop Another Stinker

As much as fans would love to blame someone else for this game (refs), the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks sat squarely on the team’s shoulders. It still seems to be a matter of core fundamentals that are costing this team valuable points in a race for 8th place that is quickly becoming unbearably tight.
Crunch Time

Yes, we all know that the Colorado Avalanche dropping last night’s game wasn’t good news for the Avs playoff picture. Whether you thought it was a good showing or like me still think they left much to be desired, at least they managed to get a point – which they hadn’t done in the last two – so that is a silver lining right?
Avalanche Blank Panthers 3-0

It was a great win for the Colorado Avalanche coming off a 6-4 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. Craig Anderson got his 7th shutout of the season, tying goaltenders Tomas Vokoun, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Marty Brodeur for most shutouts of the season. It was a great accomplishment by the Avalanche as a loss like they had on Tuesday can run like poison through the veins of a team, but the Avs shook the loss off and played some hockey tonight. And though Sid&Ovie.com doesn’t bother covering the Avalanche when they win, but tend to jump on the Burgundy Boys when they lose, that’s why you come here.
