This was a team the critics said would end the season in last place. It didn't happen, the Avs went on to be the 8th place team in the Western Conference and have a chance at the Stanley Cup. The critics then said the young team from Colorado would get swept by the "powerhouse" Sharks in the first round. Again, didn't happen.
