A Different Kind of Recap

Matt Duchene, Roberto Luongo

I’m going to go ahead and say that this is going to be a different blog. I’m not going to separate myself from what happened tonight to give you a story like everyone else. How the Avalanche blew this game. How they gave up the Northwest Division. Or how they’re a bad team. Call me a die hard fan, but I saw a few things that really changed the momentum of this game

Avs Top Ducks With Addition of Mueller

Chris Stewart and Ryan Mueller

One o’clock this afternoon marked the end of trading for the rest of the 2009-2010 NHL season. It was a busy time for a lot of teams and one team in particular made a couple of moves I didn’t expect. The Avalanche acquired Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter from Phoenix for Wojtek Wolski, as well as Stephane Yelle and Harrison Reed from Carolina for Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and a 6th round draft pick. Mueller was present for the game tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.

Stephane Yelle Returns To Avalanche

Stephane Yelle

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, in a move I had just previously noted as “not going to happen,” the Colorado Avalanche have crept in under the deadline (the news trickled in after), acquiring Stephane Yelle and Harrison Reed for Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and a 6th round pick.

Avs Sign Goalie John Grahame – Wolski Shopped?

According to Twitter, obviously the most trustworthy news source of all (remember the Michael Jackson news broke there first… and so did the death of Jeff Goldblum, which never happened), 34 year old goaltender John Grahame has been signed the by Colorado Avalanche in the first of probably a few moves before the trade deadline.

Wings Scoot Past Avs 3-2

Mike Babcock

Welcome back! How was everyone’s Olympic break? We at the Burgundy Blog tried to keep busy with some Olympic coverage and trade speculations, as well as stressing ourselves out over that Gold Medal game between Canada and USA. The Avalanche, on the other hand, all spent their time doing things to take it easy. In all honesty, they deserved the break. Especially net minder Craig Anderson.

Avs vs. Wings – Pregame

Colorado Avalanche fan Calvin pees on the Detroit Red Wings

Welcome back to our regular coverage of the Colorado Avalanche. It was a long, strange trip through them there Olympics and needless to say I’ve written some very long winded diatribes, which I will spare you here. Really, the point of this article is to expose you to the roster situation for tonight’s game against the loathed Detroit Red Wings.

Olympic Recap – Gold

Team USA goalie Ryan Miller makes a save against Canada

As far as I’m concerned, this game basically determines the outcome of the entire 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. I know there is ice dancing, bobsledding, nordic skiing, terrible Team USA curling, and even downhill skiing. But to me, this is all that matters. And in an event mirroring that of the Women’s Tournament, it all came down to USA vs. Canada – the rematch.
