I know it has been somewhat quiet here on the news front and I attribute most of that to the fact that there has been hardly any important happenings as of late. I will also admit that I had to go through my post-season mourning period as well. With that said, today we have seen a little taste of what is to come for the Colorado Avalanche this season.

Crunch Time

Yes, we all know that the Colorado Avalanche dropping last night’s game wasn’t good news for the Avs playoff picture. Whether you thought it was a good showing or like me still think they left much to be desired, at least they managed to get a point – which they hadn’t done in the last two – so that is a silver lining right?
Avalanche Blank Panthers 3-0

It was a great win for the Colorado Avalanche coming off a 6-4 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. Craig Anderson got his 7th shutout of the season, tying goaltenders Tomas Vokoun, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Marty Brodeur for most shutouts of the season. It was a great accomplishment by the Avalanche as a loss like they had on Tuesday can run like poison through the veins of a team, but the Avs shook the loss off and played some hockey tonight. And though Sid&Ovie.com doesn’t bother covering the Avalanche when they win, but tend to jump on the Burgundy Boys when they lose, that’s why you come here.
Olympic Recap – Day 6

The final day of games before the first break of the tournament and the playoff brackets are finalized saw some battles and one absolutely outstanding upset (being completely misrepresented in most traditional media outlets).
Olympic Rosters – Part 1 *Updated*

The International Ice Hockey Federation has half of this year’s Olympic Hockey team rosters available to peruse online today, with another five being announced tomorrow. The Team USA roster won’t be released until January 1st, during the Winter Classic game. Things aren’t looking good for team USA at this point but hey, we had the Miracle on Ice remember?

The second round of Olympic Team rosters have been announced today for Switzerland, Germany, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Canada. So interesteing teams have been put together including that of team Canada.
Svatos Back Out… That Was Quick

According to Altitude Sport’s morning skate podcast, Marek Svatos is already back out again. Terry Frei from the Denver Post corroborates, saying he has a chest contusion and is “day to day” according to Joe Sacco. Just when the the guy has a chance to potentially have major minutes, he’s off the ice again.
