In case you hadn’t heard, Colorado Avalanche sensational “goalie-in-the-wings” Tyler Weiman signed with the Vancouver Canucks yesterday. While this may come as a surprise to many who imagined him the heir apparent to Colorado’s throne, that just didn’t seem like it would ever come to be.

While the Colorado Avalanche greatly improved over a dismal season last year, shattering expectations left and right and arguably putting up more of a fight than the Detroit Red Wings against the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Avalanche were bogged down throughout the regular and post-season by their defensive situation.
