Coyotes Bite Avs 6-2

Cody McLeod, Adam Foote, Kevin Porter, Craig Anderson

Twas a warm night in Arizona as the Avalanche took on the Coyotes. With Calgary’s loss last night, it guaranteed the Yotes a playoff spot. The Avs, however, still have some fighting to do. They need to win 5 of the next 9 games to solidify a playoff spot for the 2009-2010 season. Seeing how well they’ve done, it’s possible. But they’re still plagued with injuries, Peter Mueller being the most recent Avalanche player to join the list with a mysterious hip injury.

Avalanche Blank Panthers 3-0

Kevin Porter

It was a great win for the Colorado Avalanche coming off a 6-4 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. Craig Anderson got his 7th shutout of the season, tying goaltenders Tomas Vokoun, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Marty Brodeur for most shutouts of the season. It was a great accomplishment by the Avalanche as a loss like they had on Tuesday can run like poison through the veins of a team, but the Avs shook the loss off and played some hockey tonight. And though Sid&Ovie.com doesn’t bother covering the Avalanche when they win, but tend to jump on the Burgundy Boys when they lose, that’s why you come here.

Are You Kidding Me?

I don’t think any of us saw that coming. In typical ironic fashion, the Avalanche fell to the Coyotes off a shot from Wojtek Wolski, a guy who’s had a problem shooting the puck and before this game had two goals in the last twenty-five. One of those was a mercy goal empty netter given by Chris Stewart. It was a little strange to see, honestly.

The International Ice Hockey Federation has half of this year’s Olympic Hockey team rosters available to peruse online today, with another five being announced tomorrow. The Team USA roster won’t be released until January 1st, during the Winter Classic game. Things aren’t looking good for team USA at this point but hey, we had the Miracle on Ice remember?

Coyotes Have Trouble Catching Roadrunner Duchene

Craig Anderson

There were no ACME product mishaps in the game tonight at the Pepsi Center. The Phoenix Coyotes showed up in Denver knowing that the Avalanche would give them trouble, but I don’t think they expected as much trouble as they got tonight. By the time the final horn sounded, Phoenix would leave The Can defeated.
