That’s All, Folks!

The San Jose Sharks came out the victors in Game 6 against the Avalanche. This was a team the critics said would end the season in last place. It didn’t happen, the Avs went on to be the 8th place team in the Western Conference and have a chance at the Stanley Cup. The critics then said the young team from Colorado would get swept by the “powerhouse” Sharks in the first round. Again, didn’t happen. The Avalanche exited in Game 6 and blew all the critics away.

Sharks Handed Game on a Silver Platter

The Colorado Avalanche, also known as the underdogs, have been giving the San Jose Sharks a run for their money. The Avs have had to transition their game to nearly 100% defense to shut down the Sharks top two lines and they’ve been doing a good job of it. Unfortunately tonight in the Shark Tank, they were never once called for too many men on the ice. The Sharks had 9 total on ice at all times, not including Evgeni Nabokov, and four of them were wearing black and white stripes.

Sharks Bite Back in OT

I’ll start off by saying that the better team didn’t win tonight. The Sharks pulled an over time win against the Avalanche with a shot from Joe Pavelski, screened by an Avalanche defenseman. It was a disappointing loss seeing how the Avalanche played worlds better than their OT win on Sunday night, getting more shots on goal and playing better defense. In fact, the OT win was the only even strength goal of the game.

Sharks Shoot Themselves in the Foot

This had to have been one of the most insane games at The Can this season. We saw Craig Anderson shut out the San Jose Sharks. We saw the Sharks put the puck on Andy 51 times and Andy blocked them all. That’s one short of his all time career record. The fans in Denver saw three scoreless periods and 51 seconds of overtime before something quite odd happened.

Sharks Poke Avs In the Eye

Game Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks. The Avs upset the Sharks in Game 1, outplaying the #1 Western Conference seed and winning 2-1. It was a night of upsets as the Montreal Canadiens also defeated #1 Eastern Conference seed, the Washington Capitals. So far these 2010 Playoffs have had more upsets than “what’s supposed to happen.” I like it that way. That’s real Playoff hockey.

Avs Punch Sharks In Nose In Game 1

That’s right folks, your Colorado Avalanche just did the impossible and beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in San Jose for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Just like at the start of the regular season, “pundits” didn’t predict much out of the Avs, and they have started to prove everyone wrong, again.

Mueller Still Out, Duchene Set To Return

While there hasn’t been much news on the recovery of outstanding Colorado Avalanche acquisition Peter Mueller, no news seems to be bad news, as Mueller is not traveling with the team for the first two games against the San Jose Sharks in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
