The Nashville Predators managed to shut down the youthful Colorado Avalanche, netting their 3rd win against the Avs this season and drawing ever closer to Colorado in the Western Conference points race. With every game being immensely important at this point in the season, last night’s loss was devastating to the team.

Colorado Avalanche rookie center Matt Duchene was awarded the prestigious honor of NHL Rookie of the Month for December. Scoring 5 goals and 8 assists in merely 14 games, Matt Duchene may well have cemented himself as the top draft pick of this season.
The Colorado Avalanche dropped their final game of 2009 to the Detroit Red Wings, 4-2. Serving up Detroit’s first win on a silver platter, the Avalanche had their typical third period of terrible plays, lazy skating, and blown chances.
