The Chicago Blackhawks stormed through the 2009-10 NHL postseason, taking no prisoners and rightly proclaiming Lord Stanley’s Cup as their trophy. Then they went out and had to clean house, losing nearly half of the team that got them the championship. Nobody can blame the ‘Hawks for essentially buying themselves a cup. They did what they needed to have a team that could compete.

Why Tyler Weiman Left
In case you hadn’t heard, Colorado Avalanche sensational “goalie-in-the-wings” Tyler Weiman signed with the Vancouver Canucks yesterday. While this may come as a surprise to many who imagined him the heir apparent to Colorado’s throne, that just didn’t seem like it would ever come to be.
Avalanche Schedule Teased Ahead of Announcement
I know it has been somewhat quiet here on the news front and I attribute most of that to the fact that there has been hardly any important happenings as of late. I will also admit that I had to go through my post-season mourning period as well. With that said, today we have seen a little taste of what is to come for the Colorado Avalanche this season.
Avs Slip In Some Oil

After a great win in OT last night in Vancouver, the Avalanche headed to Edmonton to see what the Oilers were up to. For those who have never followed the NHL this season and have just happened upon this website by happenstance, the Oilers are last in the league and are pretty much guaranteed to get the 1st draft pick in Los Angeles this summer. However, the Avalanche still have a chance to move up in the standings, so every game still has meaning.

I’m also pretty sure that most everyone thought that would happen. I mean, the Caps are #1 in the NHL, #1 in the East. The Flames? They’re sitting under the Avalanche in 9th place, 14th overall. My prediction was wrong. The Flames beat the Caps 5-3. Who saw that coming?
Avalanche Sweep Blues

The air was abuzz in St. Louis as the Avalanche and Blues would face each other for the final time this season. The Avs had three games up on St. Louis, one of which was a shutout. In their last meeting, St. Louis goaltender Chris Mason was pulled in a 7-3 loss. Mason had a better game last night, but it wasn’t enough to pull a win.
Thoughts On Last Night
Last night seemed like one of those games that was too good to be true. The Vancouver Cancucks had repeatedly stomped our Colorado Avalanche and it was time for some payback. Despite what people seem to think, this team is fighting for a playoff spot, and the window for making the post season is rapidly diminishing with each loss. Yet what happened last night was nothing short of soul crushing for this team.
