Avalanche Make Mason Smash!

Chris Stewart

What a game by the Avalanche! We saw seven goals by four different Avalanche and hats fell to the ice for fan favorite Chris Stewart. Though the steam seemed to run out in the 3rd period, the Avs held on long enough to win the game with a four goal lead to stop the St. Louis Blues winning streak at five.

Liles On Offense

Many people have been wondering lately, with Colorado Avalanche Coach Joe Sacco scratching John-Michael Liles in 4 of the last 6 games, what are the Avalanche going to do with one of the highest paid players? Rumor has it that Liles has been shopped around, harshly placed on the trading block and then not even allowed to showcase himself.

Avs Nail Thrashers in OT

With the Thrashers losing top scorer Ilya Kovalchuk to the Devils this week, no one thought they’d show up to play… and boy, were we wrong. The first period started out with a garbage goal for the Thrashers, to which the Avs answered back almost immediately with a goal by Clark. Stastny set him up for the perfect shot; a skill he’s perfected to a T. A Thrasher penalty and an Avs power play, which produced nothing but a bunch of…well, nothing. Passing the puck around and not capitalizing on opportunities pretty much sums it up. Game tied 1-1 at the end of the first.

Avs Drop Third vs. Rangers

Cody McLeod and Aaron Voros

I suppose you can say that some teams go on a bit of a losing streak after winning 6 or so in a row. That’s what’s going on with the Avs currently. The Rangers were in town, as well as their fans (who were quite annoying at the Pepsi Center), coming off a loss from Phoenix the previous night. There were a lot of things that went wrong tonight in front of the fans.

Martin Luther King Jr. stood for peace. He was the youngest person to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize. Today we celebrated MLK Day. Peace was not a word uttered in the Pepsi Center tonight, however, as the Avalanche went up against the Edmonton Oilers in a Northwest Division Collision. When the final buzzer sounded, the Avs looked down at their foes with a 6-0 win.
