Coyotes Bite Avs 6-2

Cody McLeod, Adam Foote, Kevin Porter, Craig Anderson

Twas a warm night in Arizona as the Avalanche took on the Coyotes. With Calgary’s loss last night, it guaranteed the Yotes a playoff spot. The Avs, however, still have some fighting to do. They need to win 5 of the next 9 games to solidify a playoff spot for the 2009-2010 season. Seeing how well they’ve done, it’s possible. But they’re still plagued with injuries, Peter Mueller being the most recent Avalanche player to join the list with a mysterious hip injury.

Avalanche Make Mason Smash!

Chris Stewart

What a game by the Avalanche! We saw seven goals by four different Avalanche and hats fell to the ice for fan favorite Chris Stewart. Though the steam seemed to run out in the 3rd period, the Avs held on long enough to win the game with a four goal lead to stop the St. Louis Blues winning streak at five.

Mercier & Stoa Sent Down, Durno and Yip Called Up *Updated*

After seeing this on the Avalanche website, I have my doubts that Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos will not be ready to play tomorrow against the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Justin Mercier and Ryan Stoa were reassigned to the Lake Erie Monsters while Chris Durno and Brandon Yip were called up.  I’m not saying that the Duke won’t play on Saturday, Joe Sacco is just being cautious in case Hejduk doesn’t feel up to it.  Durno or Yip could play the part of healthy scratch for all we know.

Milan Hejduk has practiced with the team and, according to the Avs themselves, is expecting to play this Saturday when the Colorado Avalanche host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

*Sigh*

I’m not going to go into tonights game very much for a few reasons.  First of all, the Avalanche were murdered by the Capitals 6-1.  Second, I’ve got a cold and am tripped up on the good stuff.  Third, I was at the game and it was a pretty crushing experience.

Svatos, Hejduk Unlikely

The Colorado Avalanche themselves have made it known that both Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos are “doubtful” for tomorrow’s game against the Washington Capitals. Both are considered day-to-day with Hejduk owning a knee injury and Svatos nursing a groin issue.
