Potential NHL Rule Changes

I was reading a post at the temporary home of Put It On Ice today about the potential rule changes the NHL is trying out before the season starts and I decided that I wanted to share my contempt and consideration of the proposals put forward. We all knew that defenseman Ruslan Salei wasn’t going to be back with the Avalanche this season. Heck, at this point, Stevie Y has used the Avalanche to help build his team this season by signing free agents Brett Clark and Chris Durno. Rusty, however, signed with the Detroit Red Wings today.

According to Justin at The Avalanche Guild, the 2010 Colorado Avalanche Training Camp is set to take place on September 18th and 19th at the Family Sports Center.

Tampa Bay Signs Chris Durno *Updated*

If things keeps going the way they have, I’m going to start calling the Tampa Bay Lightning the Colorado Avalanche East, as they’ve now added Chris Durno to their list of Colorado acquisitions. He joins Brett Clark and former Philadelphia Flyer Simon Gagné.

While there have been a few hockey movies now and then to introduce new fans to the sport, they have arguably been few and far between. Almost every hockey fan has enjoyed Slap Shot, Youngblood, Mystery Alaska, Miracle, or even the shockingly funny film The Love Guru. Some are great, some are classic, some are just flat out ridiculous, but I think we can all agree that hockey movies are awesome!

The Chicago Blackhawks stormed through the 2009-10 NHL postseason, taking no prisoners and rightly proclaiming Lord Stanley’s Cup as their trophy. Then they went out and had to clean house, losing nearly half of the team that got them the championship. Nobody can blame the ‘Hawks for essentially buying themselves a cup. They did what they needed to have a team that could compete.
