Sharks Shoot Themselves in the Foot

This had to have been one of the most insane games at The Can this season. We saw Craig Anderson shut out the San Jose Sharks. We saw the Sharks put the puck on Andy 51 times and Andy blocked them all. That’s one short of his all time career record. The fans in Denver saw three scoreless periods and 51 seconds of overtime before something quite odd happened.

Game of the Year

Tonight the Avalanche faced Northwest Division rivals, the Calgary Flames. At the beginning of this meeting the Flames were sitting behind the Avalanche in the standings by two points. The Avalanche haven’t been top notch lately, in fact they’ve been dreadful, dropping their last three games and goaltender Craig Anderson has been 1-5-1 in his last seven games.

Avs Loss To Sharks Not As Bad As It Looks

Craig Anderson, Ruslan Salei, Paul Stasty and Brett Clark watch the Sharks score

Many look at the Colorado Avalanche’s record since the Olympic break and begin to despair. The fact that our beloved team has somehow fallen apart like everyone said it would weighs as heavy on the heart as the 6-8 record they’re boasting since March 1. Really it should even be 5-9 as they stole a shootout victory from the Los Angeles Kings. Counting that win, the Avs are 1-5 in their last 6 games. It is too important a time for this to be happening!

Ducks Soar Over Avs

I think the funny thing is that Kroenke Sports Entertainment is currently trying to sell Avalanche Playoff tickets. I also think it’s funny that if the Avs keep playing like they have in the last few games, those tickets will be worthless. Either the Burgundy Boys play clutch in these last series of games or they can kiss their playoff wishes goodbye.

3-2 Again! Really?

I’m as surprised as you are, folks. Another Avalanche vs. Flames game that ended with a score of 3-2. This time, however, it didn’t end in the Avs’ favor. Still, the Avs are up 4-1 in the 6 game series, so that’s a positive way to look at it, right? I almost didn’t want to write this post. It’s so much easier to do it when your team wins.

Two words, people: Craig Anderson. He was the solution, the primary variable, in the equation that led to the Avalanche win over the Dallas Stars earlier this afternoon. Anderson hadn’t seen more shots than this since October 24th vs. the Red Wings when he stopped a season high 48 of 49 shots. This afternoon in Dallas, Andy tied his 48 saves, but this time out of 51 shots. No matter. The Avs won this one thanks to Anderson.

Avalanche Blank Panthers 3-0

It was a great win for the Colorado Avalanche coming off a 6-4 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. Craig Anderson got his 7th shutout of the season, tying goaltenders Tomas Vokoun, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Marty Brodeur for most shutouts of the season. It was a great accomplishment by the Avalanche as a loss like they had on Tuesday can run like poison through the veins of a team, but the Avs shook the loss off and played some hockey tonight. And though Sid&Ovie.com doesn’t bother covering the Avalanche when they win, but tend to jump on the Burgundy Boys when they lose, that’s why you come here.
