Would it be nice to have such a high skill player? Yeah. But with that high skill comes a high price. Is that price worth it on a rebuilding team? Definitely not.

In terms of the people involved: Wolski has done well this season, finally starting to become more consistent and playing to his potential most of the time. I don't want to see him go as much as I have in the past, but I think he has a place on the team so I'd rather keep him.

Radar must stay. Period. He's a young guy with lots of energy and I see him as being a strong part of the team for a long time.

They've already said that O'Reilly isn't going anywhere. It would be nice to have Kovalchuck on the team, his scoring would come in handy, but I doubt they'll get rid of Radar. He's been too big a part of what makes this team great this year.

The Hockey News thinks we could see Wolski, O'Reilly, and Stoa go to ATL for Kovalchuck and Kozlov for a legitimate cup push. They don't feel that the Avs would be losing anything in the deal and consider Kovy to be in his superstar prime. What do you think?

Actually, when I crunched the numbers I found out that we do the same taking more penalties (8-4) as we do when we take less (4-2). Really the worst is when we take the same amount (0-2). See: http://www.theburgundyblog.com/2009/11/by-the-numbers/

I think Howler was a better fit, but Bernie is good too. It's just nice to have something to laugh at in between periods.

Like I've said before, we need to take less penalties. When we are on the PP, however, all we do is pass the puck around. Dirty goals count too!!!

Has anybody noticed the fact that the Avs are taking more penalties than the Broncos have taken in the last five years? How do we expect to win games when we spend the majority of our time taking stupid penalties?

Svatos, I love ya, but keep your damn stick off of the other team, you hook too much.

Anybody on defense, stay out of the box unless its a necessary penalty, you're killing us here.

*Necessary meaning preventing a breakaway that would no doubt be a goal.

The Edmonton blowout was a perfect example of how we're shooting ourselves in the foot. When you allow the most shots on goal per game, you can't depend on a PK every five minutes.

I would say Howler but it has been so long that I don't exactly remember him. Besides being a goofy looking Yeti, he had about as much to do with the team as Bernie does. Though I've had a bad experience with a St. Bernard that I can't help but hold against him. Either way I'm just happy to finally have a mascot again and to move on. Bring back Boone?
