Stoa, O’Neill, Skinner Fill In

Word on Matt Hendricks is that the Colorado Avalanche forward isn’t seriously injured and may be out a week or so. It is probably just a tweak and they want to protect it and let it heal up. Further digging into today’s game notes revealed both Wes O’Neill (previously called up) and Brett Skinner as well as Ryan Stoa listed on tonight’s active roster.

So obviously we have Ryan Stoa in for Hendricks, and the appearance of Wes O’Neill (rather the lack of Adam Foote’s name) tells us that O’Neill will be getting his first start for the Avs this season against the Nashville Predators – while Footer will hopefully return the following game. Lastly, my fellow University of Denver Pioneers (and fans thereof) will notice that Brett Skinner is not only on our team, but one hard shot or swine flu sneeze away from starting for Colorado. I always liked Skinner and he won my alma mater two back to back National Championships. He’s alright in my book.

What do you think of Hendricks’ new injury? How do you think we’ll fare without him? Do you think we have enough of a rookie defense core to let some of the older guys go?
