Liles, Galiardi On the Road – Out Tonight!

The Colorado Avalanche announced yesterday that both John Michael Liles (shoulder) and T.J. Galiardi (ankle) will be hitting the road with the team. While neither will be on hand tonight, there is the possibility of a return for one or both of them during this three game stint.

Liles back will be huge but also means that Cumiskey is most likely to be a scratch, with Wilson going back to the Monsters. I’d love to see Cumiskey stay, but with the money the rest of the guys are making, it’s a hard sell to bench them. Liles was voted the player who’s injury has hurt us the most in last weeks poll. His return should benefit our flailing defense, as long as his shoulder is healthy this time.

T.J. Galliardi has been missed. Greatly. Remember that awesome PK unit we had? You know the one that eventually crawled to second in the NHL? Well Galiardi was a huge part of that success (albeit long gone by now). Despite him only having one goal, we had a huge impact on this team.

The Avs have recalled Chris Durno again, who has a whopping donut in points with us, despite leading the Monsters with 7 goals. Sadly, he hasn’t done much in the show, but that could change. The real question is why? Will we have Hensick as a scratch? Is Durno just a safety net?

Terry Frei has a nice writeup about Craig Anderson in the Denver Post. It talks about his career, his play, his youth, and quite possibly the moment his goaltending destiny was set in stone.

Finally, Foppa has decided to stay in Sweden this season, playing for Modo and no doubt for Sweden in the Olympics. I think it is great as it will give him a chance to find his form and he wont rush right into things and hurt himself. He even drew former Cancucks center Markus Naslund out of retirement, who will join Forseberg with Modo.

What do you think about Durno? Are you relieved to see Liles and Galiardi poised to return? How do you feel about Forsberg?
