Tonight the Colorado Avalanche will see the triumphant return of veteran superstar Milan “the Duke” Hejduk, who has been sidelined with knee surgery and more recently back pain. To be honest, his talent and vision on ice have been missed of late, with the Avs dropping 2 of their last 3 games.
The news come via Coach Joe Sacco himself, who spoke about it during a press conference this morning.
Craig Anderson will get another start, this time against St. Louis Blues netminder Chris Mason, who is typically hot at the end of the season. These points are important as the Vancouver Canucks lost last night and the Avs are trailing them by exactly two points. The Burgundy Boys currently sit sixth in the conference, and have to be consistent in order to fight off trailers in the Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, Calgary Flames and even the Blues.
With the loss of Brandon Yip and the addition of both Peter Mueller and Stephane Yelle, Hejduk’s presence should light up a potent yet struggling offense. Either way, tonight is a big game and the November Avalanche game needs to reappear. The Avs are 2-0 against St. Louis this season and the Blues have won five straight, so they won’t be looking to lie down.
If you’re curious for information about the state of the Avalanche’s future, pertain to prospects of course, check out not only Colorado Avalanche Prospects, but this quick breakdown by the Denver Post and Adrian Dater. Also, according to the Post, Kyle Cumiskey could be a game time decision.
