Foote Likely to Return vs. Preds

Adam Foote will likely return to the Burgundy Boys tomorrow night against the Nashville Predators. I say likely because the Avs official site says probably and Adrian Dater says definitely.

So I imagine we will see him back barring any strange injury from sleeping on it funny. This couldn’t come at a better time as Scott Hannan left Monday night’s game with a neck injury after a cheap shot from Danny Briere leveled Hannan, post goal.

Word is Hannan could return tomorrow but with the injury bug on the prowl, I say play it safe and exercise some options. Nashville is hot right now, so if Preissing comes in, he better do a hell of a lot better than a -5.

Briere received a two game suspension for the hit by the NHL, which seems fair as the play was over and it was a bit late as well as high.

Also, in case you missed it, Marek Svatos got in his first career NHL fight last night against Claude Giroux. It seems on first viewing that he got destroyed but if you watch until the end, the angle of the entire fight finds Svats getting some good licks in there. A bit of BS at the end with Giroux punching Svatos on the ground. Ask Lappy, you just don’t do that.

Finally, I have some random statistics for you to enjoy today. The Colorado Avalanche have won 0% of their games after a three or more day break in between.  Luckily, they’re 75% in back to back games, having only lost one. Even better, The boys have won every single Monday and Tuesday game played while having lost every Sunday game played this season.

Touching upon the third period issue quickly, the Avs have not scored a third period goal since November 14th. That’s a bit rough I’d say. The silver lining here though is that the team is 100% when Cody McLeod scores a goal. Crazy.

And finally, in case you blinked and missed it, Adrian Dater has returned to twitter.

I think the thing I love the most about the Giroux-Svatos fight is that even the announcers were surprised lol

At first I only saw the 4 and was shocked that Liles would be fighting. Then he turned and I was dumbfounded. Thought he fared pretty well.
