Seems I put my Foote in my mouth the other night by saying we’d see our badass Captain’s return “barring any strange injury from sleeping on it funny.” While I doubt it really came down to that, it is interesting to see that even after talking about it himself, Adam Foote’s return has dissipated.
He is indeed making the trip with the team to Minnesota today for the Black Friday Matinee, but only as a spectating captain. He’ll be joined alongside Kyle Cumiskey, who injured his foot somewhere, somehow and has been spotted in a walking cast. This is bad news for the Burgundy blue line. Two of our workhorses are out, Tom Preissing has yet to win a game, and we’ve recalled another defenseman from Erie: Brian Fahey.
I imagine Fahey will remain as a backup in case something else goes awry, but the way we’ve been playing, don’t be surprised if all logic is thrown out the window. I for one am looking forward to the Olympic break and a chance to reboot the season the way Hollywood is rebooting every movie known to man/woman.
T.J. Hensick cleared waivers yesterday and has returned to Erie as well. This is a good chance for him to get some decent ice time. Playing once in a blue moon for the Avs isn’t doing him any favors.
Today is part one of a back to back, away and home, stint against Minnesota. For those of you not caught up in retail madness, bring our boys some luck. Andy will make his 24th start in net.
