Celebrity Golf Classic Not To Be Confused With Moser Challenge

Do you like golf? How about donating money to charity? Have a couple extra bills to throw around? If you answered yes to these questions, the 2010 Colorado Avalanche Celebrity Golf Classic may be for you.

Saipan, USA

For a mere $1000 you can join a team or for a slightly larger $4000 you can post your own foursome. But wait! The fun doesn’t stop there, according to the Avalanche:

An Avalanche player, coach, alumnus or celebrity will be added to each foursome.

Where do I sign up (click above link)?

The game will take place at Castle Pines on Monday, October 4th. No need to fight the heat that late in the season, just be sure to bring a jacket.

Don’t worry, if you don’t have the money or you are looking for something with a little bit higher stakes, Avalanche Radio superstar Marc Moser has offered up the “Moser Challenge” via his twitter.

Moser challenge is coming. We play golf, you beat me, I’ll buy you 2 Avs tix next year……wait….if you lose, you pay next round.

Sounds like a helluva deal to me, but then again I don’t (read can’t) play golf. Golf is as hard to me as staying sober is to Lindsey Lohan. I digress, but as of July 16th, Moser has yet to be taken up on his offer. Somebody has to step up and give it a shot before I lose a round of golf (and look like an idiot).

What do you think? Any golfers out there? THink you have what it takes to beat Moser? Want a chance to play with Adam Foote?

Anyone have any clue as to what Moser's handicap is? I think I may be able to take him.

Saw your tweet. Thanks for following up. I tried to tweet him as well. He won't talk to me on Twitter. Maybe I pissed him off at some point or something. Guess it couldn't have been that bad or he would've given me the Dater block. LOL

Let me know if he responds to you. I actually just want to play golf with him. Maybe he has good Avs stories to tell or something. I go to many of the games anyways. If I'm fortunate enough to play with him and win I'll have him give the tickets to charity or something. That would be cooler than me going to another game. Not trying to sound uppity or anything, just wanting the tickets to go to someone that would love to go to a hockey game that wouldn't normally have the chance.

And the two posts above are both me, if you didn't know that already. Twitter was overloaded last night so I logged in as a guest. Just making sure!

Yeah I saw that. He wrote back to you on there and said this:
We played stroke play, but wouldn't have mattered it if were match play. @AvsHkyPodcast Officially I'm a 12.2, but have been playing better than that as of late….77-80. Round 2 coming up soon!

I think your idea is a great one. You could also stage a giveaway to readers/listeners!

If I could play golf decently (I know how to play but I'm not great by any means – it's the hockey in me) I would say we should get a group together and go.

Just saw his response. Thanks for the heads up. Let's do the math here too. If you don't know that much about handicaps it doesn't matter too much. Just know that closer to “0″ is better. He's a 12.2 and “playing much better” and shooting high 70s and low 80s. I'm a 5.5 and shoot high 70s and low 80s. That in golf is known as a “sand bagger,” but you have to promise not to tell him he's that! =) I think I could give him a good run and it would be fun. I'll get in touch with him and see what we can work out. I can either take my Dad or a buddy of mine and really give him a run for his money, er, tickets! Thanks for keeping me up to date and I'll do the same with you!

Looks like this is gonna happen. I don't get to choose my partner though. Could be trouble. When something solid gets set up I'll be in touch!

Yeah, keep me updated. Good luck!

It's on for next Friday, August 13th. It'll be Moser and Kyle Keefe against me and another Avs fan from Twitter that's a pretty good player. Looking forward to it! When we figure out where we're playing I'll post it here. Moser is looking for a hook up. I bet he has a few connections.

Let me know how it goes. I’m excited for you! We’ll have to give it more coverage…

I'll keep in touch. Still no word on where we'll play. Arbon is the other Avs fan that will be my partner. His twitter name is RhymeswCarbon. I'll post here when details are set.

We tee off today at 1:00. I’ll update as much as I can on Twitter. Going to be a great time!
