Avs Send Hensik to St. Louis

Though I’m not too surprised, the Colorado Avalanche have sent T.J. Hensik to St. Louis for prospect Julian Talbot. The newcomer notched 32 points last season (17g/15a) for the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues AHL affiliate.

Shocking to some, Talbot is not a center, but a left wing. This is a good move for the Avalanche as Hensik was one of those prospects who shined for a bit, but fizzled out in the end. Sure, Hensik won awards in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters, but he couldn’t bring that up to the big show. Hopefully, if he’s called upon, Talbot can bring some much needed skill to the left wing.

Along with Talbot, the Avs resigned Philippe Dupuis, Kevin Porter, and Ray Macias.

After a bit more digging, I’ll be sure to let you all know if I think Talbot was the right move. If previous moves have taught us this last season, Avs management know what they’re doing.
