Avalanche Schedule Teased Ahead of Announcement

I know it has been somewhat quiet here on the news front and I attribute most of that to the fact that there has been hardly any important happenings as of late. I will also admit that I had to go through my post-season mourning period as well. With that said, today we have seen a little taste of what is to come for the Colorado Avalanche this season.

DENVER - APRIL 24: Chris Stewart #25 of the Colorado Avalanche takes a shot on goalie Evgeni Nabokov #20 of the San Jose Sharks as Marc-Edouard Vlasic #44 of the Sharks defends and Matt Duchene #9 of the Avalanche looks for a rebound in Game Six of the Western Conference Quaterfinals of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Pepsi Center on April 24, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. Justin at The Avalanche Guild brought us the first sniff, claiming the Burgundy Boys would start the season off in epic fashion, facing the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks on October the 7th at home. This was later confirmed by the Denver Post, as was the second sneak preview.

The Avs will also face the Runner-up Philadelphia Flyers a few days later on October 11th for their home opener. This game will likely be the start of a East coast road trip that sees the Burgundy and Blue take on Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers, Rick Di Pietro (if he ain’t hurt) and the New York Islanders, and Martin “I’m just about washed up” Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.

A last special treat for readers of Adrian Dater is the arrival of NHL golden boy Sidney Crosby and his “beat by the awesome Montreal Canadiens” Pittsburgh Penguins. That game with be on February 16th. The Colorado Avalanche 2010-11 season schedule will be released tomorrow morning at 10.am.

Draft Update

May 16, 2010 - Denver, Colorado, U.S. - MLB Baseball - Former Colorado Avalanche center and 13 time NHL All-Star JOE SAKIC throws the opening pitch at Coors Field.

While we’ve obviously been full of outstanding draft coverage lately, I want to make it known that all 7 of the Avalanche picks will be covered. Check out TSN and Bob McKenzie’s Top 75 player rankings for a preview of Draft Day. With the draft looming on Friday, watch the NHL for a plethora of moves being made. Consider friday Trade Deadline part Deux.

The above rankings put the Avalanche’s first pick as Emerson Etem, another center. While the Avalanche could user another center like they could use another owner, wheels might be useful in a forward.

Today also marks the 15 year anniversary of the day the Quebec Nordiques were approved for a move to Colorado. Happy conception!
