*Sigh*

I’m not going to go into tonights game very much for a few reasons.  First of all, the Avalanche were murdered by the Capitals 6-1.  Second, I’ve got a cold and am tripped up on the good stuff.  Third, I was at the game and it was a pretty crushing experience.

Mainly, I wanted to tell the Caps fans behind me that they suck.  Caps were up 2-0 in the first.  They got a goal waved off, not by the official, but by the NHL home office.  They ruled that a “distinct kicking motion” was seen, so no goal.  The Caps fans behind me then discussed for a good ten minutes how the Avalanche were cheaters because of this call.  Um, excuse me?

During the third period, David Koci boarded Mike Green pretty hard.  Sure, it was dirty, but the Caps fans behind me acted like their Lord and Savior Alex Ovechkin has never made a dirty hit in his life.  This is just a couple weeks after Ovi was suspended for a knee-on-knee hit.  He tried the same thing with Ryan Wilson, but Wilson avoided the hit.  It was pretty sweet to see Wilson and Ovi hitting each other against the boards over and over again.  I was sure there was going to be a confrontation, but there wasn’t.

Why can’t the opposing team’s fans be classier?  The list of team fans I can’t stand grows every year.  So far the list goes as such: Red Wings fans, Predators fans, Canucks fans, and Oilers fans.  They tend to be obnoxious and rude.  Sorry, but when I’m in another team’s house, I try to be respectful.  When I was one of the Cardinals fans at a Rockies game this summer, I didn’t scream at the Rox fans that their team sucked.  I didn’t act like the World Series was won every time a player got on base *ahem, take note of that, Cubs fans*.  I sat there, applauded when applicable, and enjoyed the game.

All in all, the game just sucked.  Luckily, T.J. Galiardi tipped in a shot from Matt Duchene and denied Jose Theodore a shutout.  I was happy with that.

Prior to the game, the Avs honored Mike Keane into the Avalanche Alumni Association.
